What is swine flu?
It's a form of influenza that commonly affects pigs and, more rarely, humans.
Can I get it from eating pork?
No.
What are the symptoms?
They're similar to more common strains of influenza: fever, lethargy, lack of appetite and coughing. Some people also report coming down with a runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
How do I treat swine flu?
The new strain responds to oseltamivir and zanamivir, the newer anti-viral drugs for flu.
Why are officials worried about the new cases?
Swine flu is almost always passed to people directly from pigs, but the eight people in the U.S. who had this strain had no known contact with pigs. A new disease that can be passed from person to person has the risk of spreading quickly.
Is there any risk of catching the new illness in the Dallas area?
Local and federal health officials have found no evidence that there is any risk of contracting the disease in this area.

Not as bad now as first thought........phew!
H1N1, a virus that seems to be spreading like wildfire.
I am glad they seem to be finding now that it's about as harmful as regular flu. Which is bad, but better than first thought. Highly contagious, but hopefully with any luck it's going to wear itself out.
It's disturbing to think though that 3 different flu's have combined to make this. Human flu, swine flu and bird flu. But, it seems to be quite weak, and much less work than it could be, which at least gives us some hope.
